Starting with a mostly stock ’98 Silverado, we aimed to build a modern day sport truck that was budget minded. These “OBS” trucks can be found at a reasonable price and with a few upgrades, can prove to be a reliable, well- handling sport truck that can also be daily driven.
For this project, we opted to go with American Racing VN215 Torq Thrust wheels, in a staggered 18x8 and 18x10 setup. We wrapped them in a 245/40 and a 275/40 tire. This provided a classic sport truck look.
These trucks are known for inferior brakes right from the factory. We set out to improve that and developed our Revelator brake kit. We recently introduced a 13” version to fit inside 18” wheels, which is the kit you see here. Using a 13” rotor all around and a well performing Corvette C5 caliper, we are able to drastically improve braking, without breaking the budget.
BellTech has always been known for the leader in suspension components for these trucks. It was a no-brainer to choose their 5/7 kit for this truck, using their Street Performance shocks. This got the truck down over those 18” wheels for the overall look we were wanting to achieve.
